Scott Dohn
Kennebunk — Scott Dohn is a woodworker of 30+ years, preferring to work with both local and exotic hardwoods. He often designs his works with contrasting light and dark colored woods, paying close attention to grain orientation, in an effort to show off the beauty of the wood species.
Scott Dohn's Master Pepper Mills are turned to size and shape on a wood lathe based on the design of the pattern. The pattern is burned in the wood then each design is dyed by hand with India inks. Scott has designed and created furniture and cabinetry but his true passion is wood turning. He creates vases, bowls, and other designs through the art of segmented turning. Scott also uses a technique called “basket Illusion” where the wood is turned, burned, and dyed with India inks.
