Portland — Amber Boutiette and Patrick Breeding co-founded Marin Skincare after graduating from University of Maine’s Biomedical Engineering program. They worked with lobster scientists to discover that a glycoprotein which enables lobsters to regenerate limbs ALSO helps to repair damaged skin! 

Marin Skincare collaborates with Luke’s Lobster in Portland to harvest marine glycoproteins, which are a natural byproduct of the lobster industry. This special ingredient, which would otherwise go to waste, now goes into their products to hydrate dry skin and help to repair, soften, and renew the skin barrier.
