Christina Blank
Defiant Chisel; Durham, ME - "For me it is all about the process of sculpting rather than the finished piece itself. I find inspiration in the forms that catch my eye in the world around me and can’t help but try and recreate the patterns and structures myself. I enjoy using wood as a medium because by its very nature, every piece that I sculpt is inherently one of a kind. Each block of wood is as unique as a fingerprint, marked by the events in the life of the tree it originated from. The imperfections of the wood are often my favorite parts of a finished piece. Each piece requires the observer to interact with it. They may be delicate, but they are also dynamic, and not intended to be hung on a wall or set on a shelf never to be touched."
