Molly Ann Thompson
Portland - Molly lives and creates in Portland, Maine. She is grateful to be the mother of three creative children who grew up to be kind and resourceful adults and to be sharing her life with a husband who supports her in all her pursuits. After enjoying a long career in early childhood education, publishing community based parenting magazines in New York, Connecticut and Maine; and working as a marketing director and graphic designer, she is very happy to be working full-time from my attic studio. The design of each of her towels and table linens is inspired by nature and for functional objects representative of good design. Each linen is unique - individually printed using a process that begins with carving her drawings onto a pliable rubber surface which is mounted on wood to create a stamp. Then, the stamp is hand painted again and again to create printed impressions that mirror gardens, both real and imagined. The fabrics are made of natural fibers and the paints are food safe and heat set, to withstand rigorous use and repeated washing.
