Evan Emmott

Waldoboro, ME - E. Porter Emmott is a wooden boat builder and furniture maker on the Mid Coat of Maine. He is drawn to modern design, particularly Scandinavian modern, which is made beautiful through restraint, simplicity, and functionality, like the wooden boats native to this area. Using woods native to Maine, like Oak, Cherry and Ash, Evan selects and harvests off a large family woodlot in order to control quality. All of his pieces employ traditional hand-cut joinery, such as dovetails and mortise and tenon, while the designs are contemporary. This combination of old techniques and modern design ensures that the furniture will last for generations and remain timeless.
