By the Water's Edge: Gardening on an Island in Maine
Gardening on an island in Maine has its challenges: rocks, clay soil, a short growing season, not to mention that most plant material has to be hauled by boat from the mainland. However, the gardeners of Great Chebeague Island in Casco Bay have the good luck to have BJ Abrahamson and his team to help them.
This book documents the creation of a few different gardens on Great Chebeague and community that came together around building and maintaining them.
Photographs by summer resident, Stacie Webb and narrative by Mally Cox-Chapman whose family has vacationed on Great Chebeague many years.
