The Original Maine Shrimp Cookbook has about 70 recipes specifically designed for northern shrimp. Our goal is to promote the buying of Maine shrimp by giving people new ways to cook it. The cookbook is collaboration between the Midcoast Fishermen's Cooperative in Port Clyde, the First Universalist Church in Rockland and the Island Institute. It evolved during the creation of the first-ever Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) project in 2007. The cookbook's author is Diane H. Schetky, chair of the Green Sanctuary Committee of the church. The cookbook includes recipes from church members, fishermen, restaurant owners and community members. The result is an eclectic and enjoyable collection. The cookbook is part of a successful effort to help local fishermen get more money for their fish, to promote local food and to support sustainable fishing.
